The Point Amour Lighthouse stands tall amid limestone cliffs near the small, historically significant community of L'Anse Amour, on the south coast of Labrador. Towering at 109 feet, it is the tallest in Atlantic Canada and second highest in the country. A panoramic view of the surrounding land and sea, and a glimpse of its historical attributes can be witnessed during the 132 step adventure to the top.
The lighthouse has been partially restored to the period of its original construction. There's lots of exhibits throughout the year that portray the rich maritime history of the area and its a tribute to the eventful past and heritage. The heritage research centre is available to host a variety of research fields including geology, biology, history and much more.
There's also a creatve program that promote the natural and cultural history of the area. It provides education programs with activities taking place on site which provide a great link between research and interpretation. Activities inclyde craft activities which include demonstrations and interactions for all visitors to take park in and enjoy.
At the centre you'll find on-site accommodation, laboratory workspace and a large room that's great for presentations and educational activities.
