The museum showcases the heritage and people of the Finlay, Parsnip, and Peace River valleys of British Columbia. The region has a rich cultural, social, and natural history that led to the development of abundant natural resourses over the last two centuries and will be a great day out to learn all about the history.
Mackenzie's footprint in the valley only started in the mid 1960s as a planned community in the Canadian wilderness, to accomodate a workforce for the growing local forest industry. More importantly, the museum promotes the people of the area, from the rich and diverse First Nations residents to the people that have chosen to move to this most beautiful place in BC.
Come see 35 original paintings by Marge McDougall, done in the 1950s of her First Nations friends of Fort Graham to the pictures of prospectors, trappers, settlers that have made their mark here. You are more than welcome to come and visit, leaving is optional.
The museum sits on the McLeod Lake Indian Band and is a traditional territory. They are part of the proud Tse'khene group of Aborgiginal people.
