The Keno Mining Museum is said to be one of the best little museums in the Territory with informative and well made displays. The Museum captures the Gold and Silver mining history in the area which began in the early 1900's.
Displays include tools and equipment used in the early days of mining as well as artifacts associated with everyday life in isolated mining communities. A wide selection of photographs allows visitors to see the history of the region through the eyes of some very talented photographers who lived and worked in the Keno area.
The museum also has a fine gift shop featuring mining-related gifts, plus a variety of works by some of Yukon's most gifted artists. Next door to the museum you'll find the Alpine Interpretive Centre which serves as the starting point to a network of marked hiking trails if you fancy going exploring!
You'll also see the Crawler Tractor which replaced the horses for hauling freight. They were first used for hauling freight around the mines and to transport goods between the communities so don't forget to check this out on your arrival!
