If you want to really get out and see a part of Canada you might not normally explore, why not check out Hidden Lake Territorial Park! You will feel like you have uncovered a hidden secret of Canada!
Hidden Lake Territorial Park is a water-based, undeveloped park, so you really are getting out into the wilderness.
Here, there is 3,000 hectares of rivers, lakes, and short portages. If you want to enjoy a short spell within the park, there are two day use areas - Powder Point and Cameron Falls. These are the best places to access the Ingraham Trail too!
Hidden Lake is actually one of the more beautiful lakes in the area, and can be found just east of Yellowknife.
Over summer, the water changes color and kids will love trying to spot the fish swimming in the very crystal clear water!
The Powder Point Day use area can be explored by canoe, and the Cameron Falls Trail is a lovely hike through the forest, to of course, Cameron Falls! Don't forget your camera!
Across the falls, there is a bridge where you can get to Hidden Lake Park by foot, so those active kids will really be using up that energy (that we know they sometimes have TOO much of!)
If you want to really explore, Hidden Lake Territorial Park has two abandoned gold mines which are just within walking distance of Hidden Lake. One of them is great for a challenge, with a two hour hike needed.
They haven't been used since the 1940s, so it's a great history lesson too!
Outdoor adventure is waiting for the family at this amazing Canadian territorial park - so let's go!
