Located in the quiet village of Dunvegan, the Glengarry Pioneer Museum opened its doors in back in 1962 with a view to preserve, maintain, interpret and promote the fascinating artifacts, records, important culture and events of those pioneers who settled in the area.
It's museums like these that allow families to visit to create an invaluable and tangible link with the past, and to ensure that children are able to learn about and appreciate the experiences of their forebears!
The Glengarry Pioneer Museum’s original structure began life as the MacIntosh store in the 1840s. Did you know that? (Just one of the many facts you'll learn when you visit! What's also fascinating is that it is this period in which it remains.
Once the property was established as a museum, eight other buildings have slowly been relocated to the site from the nearby areas to help interpret and house the rich history.
Don't miss out on some of the living history events the Glengarry Pioneer Museum hosts too - it's an incredible way for kids to actually experience first hand what life would have been like all those years ago!
