The Canadian Drilling Rig Museum is where you can spend you family day out learning all about the origins and history of a fundamental Canadian industry - Gas! It's located in Rainham Centre, at the corner of Rainham Road and Kohler Road, the museum highlight surely has to be the fully functional historic drilling rig, the last known working example of this type of Wooden rig, In North America!
This rig is an excellent example of Canadiana, and is a fully working reconstruction of a natural gas rig that once Drilled in the Haldimand Norfolk region From 1896 to the 1930's until abandoned the the 1950's in Acton Ontario.
The museum itself covers more then 120 years of the natural gas industry, with artifacts on display that help tell the story, AND knowledgable guides who can fill in the details for you.
Many of the volunteer guides were part of the original team who rebuilt the rig, so they will certainly know what they are talking about!
As well as the exhibits, the Canadian Drilling Rig Museum also host special events, that can make your experience that much more enjoyable!
