Bonnechere Museum, also known as the Ordovician Fossil Capital of Canada, presents both the natural and cultural history of life as it developed along the Bonnechere River. It's a live museum and represents the whole community and promotes heritage and cultural tourism for everyone to enjoy and learn about.
The museum is a community-based volunteer organisation and searches, collects and encourages the writing of historical materials and to showcase artistic and cultural events. It presents life as it developed along the Bonnechere River, as well as its landscape, settlement and development. As it's a live museum, fossil hunters of all ages can assemble at the museum and extend their to the village walkabouts and quarry for the search of some real fossible. The landscape is a fossil hunters paradise!
There are quilting exhibits which attract artists from across Canada, with unique workshops to showcase skills and inspire creativity throughout generations. There are also dancers, painters, writers and musicians that spark creative minds. You can also opt for a guide tour of the geotrail too where you'll learn leots of interesting and historical facts about the area.
