Many of us are familiar with the story of Anne of Green Gables, but did you know that these books were written all the way back in 1908 by a Canadian named L.M. Montgomery? And now, if you visit Bala's Museum in Ontario, you can see where this amazing author lived! After all, the literary world wouldn't be the same without her!
Bala's Museum will take you back into the 1920s, where you can experience what life would have been like for Montgomery. You never know, you might even be inspired to write your own novels when you leave!
You can spend the day looking at the exhibits which showcase the life of Montgomery, from her silver tea sets still on display, to a set of 1939 Sunday School papers with a condensation of "Anne of Ingleside" - Pretty amazing!
Kids can even see the basket where she kept her personal correspondence, and her best collection of books. Bala's Museum also features handwritten excerpts and photos from her very own diary, and even props from the 1985 TV Movie "Anne of Green Gables".
Kids, there is even more fun to be had at Bala's Museum because you can take tours in costumes! Family fun is what they love, so join in the fun!
The museum if run by Linda and Jack, and Linda can give you talks on the life and times of Montgomery, and Jack does a fun ragtime sing-a-long!
Sounds amazing!
Celebrate the life of this amazing author, and have a great family day out while you're doing so!
