Waddesdon Manor is even more impressive than you might imagine, and it makes a fascinatingly artistic and historical family day out for all!
Waddesdon Manor was built in the 19th century (between 1874 and 1885 to be exact) but Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild purely to display his collection of arts (it's a pretty impressive collection!) and to entertain the fashionable world!
It wasn't until 1959 that the manor was opened to the public and is now managed by the Rothschild Foundation, on behalf of the National Trust, who took over ownership in 1957.
Today, you can see the incredible Rothschild Collections of paintings, sculpture and decorative arts!
In addition to the property, make sure you spend time exploring the beautiful gardens. In fact, Baron Ferdinand himself created his garden for the amusement of his guests (as you do!), and the guests would spent an entire morning on their tour.
Waddesdon Manor had one of the most important Victorian gardens, and today many of the key features have been restored and luckily for you can be enjoyed on your visit!
Within the manor, you can explore the various rooms and see how 19th century living would have been for somone such as a Rothschild.
Over winter, only the gardens are accessible to visit, but from mid-March Waddeson Manor is ready to welcome families to enjoy this impressive National Trust property!
