Southend Cliff Lift was constructed all the way back in 1912! The line has a unsual configuration and runs on a single track elevated structure and is a rick part of Southend's heritage.
Ride the list and get fanctic views of the pier and beyond on a short journey. Since it's opening, it's been modernised plenty of times and is operated by knowledgable volunteers that are happy to answer any questions you have.
The lift can hold up to 12 people and there's a ramp for disabled access and pushchairs too. It's the only single track funicular railway in Britain!
It's around 40m in length and is run by electricity. The counterweight track runs within the strucuture belong the main track that carrys the car.
If you're visiting Southend, it's a must visit to get amazing views or if you just want to take a journey to the top and take a break!
