Shanklin Chine is Isle of Wights oldest visitor attraction, drawing visitors for over 200 years! It was carved by Mother Nature over thousands of years ago and is a tree lined gorge that cuts its mark from Shanklin Old Village to the sandy beach and Esplanade.
The Chine Illuminations are the star attraction. Wonder at its beauty on summer nights where hundreds of light light up the narrow paths, streams and waterfalls. It's a place of magic and there are about five miles of cable and under 200 lights that have been installed. The lights give off a cathedral roof impression and will be a magical experience for everyone.
There's also a number of exhibitions too. The Pluto exhibit displays the story of how the pipeline carried petrol to the Allied troops in Normandy, and you'll experience a short film detailing the story too.
As well as this, the park is a haven for wildlife. It's a sanctuary for mammals, birds and insects too. There are red squirrels, badgers, foxes and lots of birds too so make sure to keep your eye out to see if you can spot some!
The nature hide is an area for children to discover natural beauty. You'll find information posts, colourful photo borders and more that will encourage children to learn more. There's also a live camera of the red squirrel feeder so you can watch them up close! There's even a friendly robin who may eat from your hand too!
