Scotney Castle is a desginated National Trust site and is a romantic picturesque garden with a 14th century moated castle and country mansion. There are over 780 acres of beautiful parks and woodlands to enjoy with the whole family.
The gardens are great for adventures with the family. You can look down into the moat and see how many fish you can spot and there are even geese in the Spring too! You might even spot a grass snake and a frog taking a dip if you're lucky!
Explore the thatched ice house and try to imagine what it was once like to cut huge ice blocks. Play hide and seek and county all the steps in the quarry garden. You might even spot a dinosaur footprint in the rocks here too.
The wallked garden has many fruit trees and herbs too and a dipping pond which was once used by Victorian gardeners to fill their watering cans.
To burn off some energy, why not pay a visit to the badger and pepper play area which has a mud kitchen, ball run, play house, swings and even a natural drum kit for you to get musical! For older children, there's lots of way-marked routes through the park and woodlands of varying difficulty.
They also have plenty of events too throughout the year, so make sure to check out the website before you visit so you know what's happening!
