Rockingham Castle was built on the instruction of William the Conqueror, and has been a family home for 450 years. It's open to the public and provides a fascinating look into the history.
Inside the castle, your tour will start in the servants hall and was once used as a communal living space for kitchen and house staff. The Street is the centre of domestic life and the old kitchen was the cooking area for hundreds of years and was once a hub of life.
Your tour will then take you to the butlers pantry, the great hall, naval lobby and the panel room which shows a natural evoultion of Rockingham from its early years to now a modern family room.
Once you've toured insider, the formal gardens offer a great relazing walk. There's a rose garden, wild garden and a wentworth explorer trail which helps children learn more about the habitats of wildlife found in the garden.
The castle hosts lots of seasonal events all year round. Including Teddy Bears Picnic, Medieval living, plays, food and drink fairs and much more! Just check the website before you visit so you know what's happening.
