Chislehurst Caves have been carved out for over hundreds of years and were dug for chalk used in lime and brick making! It first opened to the public in 1900 and now the caves are open as a tourist attraction and education centre for everyone to enjoy.
If you want to explore the caves, you'll need to join a lamp-lit guided tour. The caves contains dark mysterious passageways so you won't be able to find your way unaided.
The tours leave on the hour and last for around 45 minutes, so make sure to book before you arrive. There's no maximum number for a tour, and remember to wear sensible footwear too and clothes, as the caves are much cooler than outdoors!
Children are welcome, but under threes may find the caves a little spooky, so just use your best judgement! You can also download a fun facts quiz too for children to complete after the visit.
If you're feeling hungry, there's a cafe onsite selling lots of light snacks if you need it and there's plenty of outdoor picnic tables too if you wanted to relax outside.
