Dec 07,2022read

Your little ones are back to school and back to the flu. There’s nothing worse than seeing your child with a runny nose and red eyes and knowing that the next few weeks are going to be hellish for both of you. We know you want them to be healthy again as quickly as possible, so here are some great tips on how to boost their immunity with these fall seasonal flu remedies for your kids.

Stay well hydrated

Many people don’t realize that when they are sick, they are actually more vulnerable to dehydration. Flu-like symptoms can cause excessive sweating and fever that causes increased urination. When sick, it is important to drink between 8 and 10 glasses of water per day. Not drinking enough water can make you feel worse.

Eat nutritious foods

Kids will eat almost anything though, so do your best with what you can. Try to steer clear of soda, sweets, and alcoholic drinks. These are not only bad for your immune system, but they also dehydrate the body. Choose water over everything else. Fruits and vegetables are great for boosting their immunity. The antioxidants found in foods like blueberries, pomegranates, and broccoli can help improve their immune system.

Get plenty of rest

This should be a no-brainer, but it is often overlooked. When a child is sick, they have no choice but to rest. Getting plenty of rest is important for fighting off the flu. You can also encourage your child to rest by playing games and reading books together.

Use aromatherapy oils for immune support

Essential oils are great for boosting your child’s immune system. You can apply them topically to their chest, back, and feet to help them feel better and recover more quickly. You can also diffuse them throughout the house to disinfect the air while making everyone feel better. Peppermint, rosemary, and eucalyptus are great for boosting their immune systems.

Try natural immune boosters

Some natural remedies can be just as effective as prescription medications. Ginger is known to help with nausea and vomiting. When you feel sick, gingering up your tea or sip on some ginger ale to help ease symptoms. You can also try adding ginger to your food or drink. Honey and lemon are another great natural remedies. Take a spoonful of honey with the juice of a half a lemon to ease your throat, cough, and congestion.

Keep in mind that kids recover faster than adults do

Kids recover much more quickly than adults. This is because their immune systems are more active and their bodies are naturally able to fight off infections more easily.
