Halloween is nearly upon us, and that means tricks, treats, ghouls and goblins all coming out to play! It also means some pretty amazing fancy dress!

What if you want to extend your Halloween into a week of spooky celebrations, or perhaps Halloween night you don't want to venture out at all and just want to spend time together as a family?

Well, nothing (in our minds!) is more fun that a movie night on that night in! So we wanted to share 10 great kids Halloween movies to kick start those ideas rolling for what you might want to sit back and enjoy!

So what are you waiting for? Let's get that popcorn out!

1. It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown

(c) CBS

Based on the iconic comic strip Peanuts, "It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" was a 1966 television Halloween special (and actually the third Peanuts special)

This still-to-this-day classic kids film features one of the most popular underdogs, Charlie Brown, as he celebrates trick-or-treating with all his friends.

Whilst he is celebrating, Linus spends the night in the pumpkin patch excitedly waiting for the supposed legend that is The Great Pumpkin!

Lots of fun for the kids and parents. It's still popular after all these years for a reason!

2 Beetlejuice

(c) WarnerBros

Say his name three times and YOU might be meeting Beetlejuice for yourselves! This fun and creative spooky 1988 classic from Tim Burton starring Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder continues to entertain, and with a PG rating, it makes a fun Halloween pick for the family!

3. Casper

(c) Universal

Boo! Don't be too scared, Casper is a friendly ghost after all! Following Kat and her father who move into a new (and aptly spooky home), she realises they aren't the only ones living there!

Always fun and still holds up since its 1995 release, this classic starring Bill Paxton and Christina Ricci has playful ghouls, a lot of heart and maybe a few tears too!

4. The Addams Family

(c) Paramount

Drawn from the famous cartoons of Charles Addams, the iconic 1991 film "The Addams Family" became a family favorite, with Angelica Houston, Raul Julia, Christopher Lloyd and Christina Ricci (back again!) embracing their weirdness and navigator the dramas when a supposed long-lost uncle comes back to town!

The Addams Family have long been popular trick-or-treat costumes for decades, so why not celebrate by seeing them come back to life on your TV screens?

5. Gremlins

(c) WarnerBros

Just make sure they don't get wet! These adorable creatures were made famous by Joe Dante's 1984 classic, but don't be deceived by their cuteness! Whilst the movie is set at Christmas time, the antics and havoc created by Gizmo and friends are a worthy Halloween treat.

Rated PG, these cute creatures do create some scare-inducing moments, but there's a reason this film has been a Halloween favorite for nearly 40 years!

6. Nightmare Before Christmas

(c) Buena Vista

Jack Skellington is one of the most memorable characters to ever hit the screens thanks to Tim Burton and his 1993 stop-motion animation musical that captured audiences all around the world (and still to this day!)

The "King of Halloween Town" stumbles upon "Christmas Town", and like our friends at no. 5, this film works great across both seasons.

Kids will love the music, and the animation is so beautifully done, you can't help but want to celebrate All Hallows Eve with Jack!

7. Monsters Inc.

(c) Pixar

A Pixar blockbuster from 2001, Monsters Inc. is a great monster-filled favorite for the family at Halloween! With voices from Billy Crystal, John Goodman and Steve Buscemi, Monsters Inc follows monster workers in the city of Monstropolis, trying to harness "scares" out of children, but when friendship blossoms - choas ensues!

Pixar are great family films, with heart, humor and lessons, and always find themselves very welcome additions to any family movie night!

8. Ghostbusters

(c) Columbia Pictures

Who ya gonna call? Ghostbusters is one of the most successful and popular movie franchises of all time, and for good reason! It's funny, clever, full of ghouls and ghosts, and let's not forget the adorable Slimer! Let's not forget the great chemistry between Dan Akroyd, Bill Murray, and Harold Ramis.

Start your night with the original, then you might just fancy making your Halloween a Ghostbusters centric occasion! There are 4 more films to enjoy following the original, and we predict it won't be too long before the grey jumpsuits are on and vacuums are at the ready on the back...

We ain't afraid of no ghost!

9. Hocus Pocus

(c) Buena Vista

With the recent release of Hocus Pocus 2, what better time to go back to the original this Halloween? Hocus Pocus was released in 1993 starring Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy, and tells the story of a villainous comedic trio of witches who happened to be resurrected in Salem, Massachusetts by an unwitting boy!

Great family fun, great costume ideas for trick-or-treating, and plenty of laughs!

10. Hotel Transylvania

(c) Sony Pictures

Part of a franchise, Hotel Transylvania tells the story of a very special hotel (the owner is none other than Count Dracula himself) offers a place where monters of the world can escape human civilisation.

Inviting monsters to celebrate his daughter's 118th birthday, things don't go to plan when a human finds himself part of the party too!

Great fun for kids, and who doesn't love monsters AND vampires on Halloween!?
