We LOVE a great outdoor adventure at Family Days Out, and at Lake Washoe State Park - you can have your very own!
This piece of natural paradise is located right in the heart of the beautiful Washoe Valley - between Reno and Carson City. You can sit back and enjoy the lakeside views as you look out at the Sierra Nevada and Carson Range. Pretty impressive!
You won't be short of places to explore, because Washoe Lake State Park has over 8,000 acres of land and water ready for kids of all ages to enjoy!
Named after the Washoe Indians - the original inhabitants of the area, it's a beautiful place to bring the family. The park is teeming with wildlife, including deer, hawks, coyotes, and eagles, and there are a ton of bird species including pelicans to enjoy!
Sand dunes anyone? Yep! The sand dunes of Lake Washoe were formed very very slowly over thousands of years. Make sure you tread lightly though and stay on the pathways, as they are very delicate!
For those day-use visitors, the areas are Little Washoe, the Wetlands, South Beach, North Ramp and Main Entrance. There are equestrian facilities, as well a great boat launching ramps and many hiking trails. The lake is perfect for those water-sports including jet skiing, water skiing and windsurfing, and there are certainly plenty of places to go hiking!
So grab those hats and sunglasses, swimmers, bring a good book and great running shoes because there is a whole 8,000 acres for you to explore! Go Nevada!
