About this activity

What was once a private subtropical home in the 1910s, is today a National Historic Landmark, and accredited museum, AND a great destination for any family day out in Miami - we are talking about the stunning Vizcaya Museum and Gardens!

Vizcaya Museum and Gardens is a great way to learn all about local history and culture, in an environment like no other in Miami.

Set on 11 beautiful acres of grounds, the property itself features 34 public rooms, spread out on several floors, ready for the whole family to explore. Want to know something really special about Vizcaya?

Inspired by the stately homes of Europe, it happens to be one of the most intact remaining examples from the early 20th century in US history!

As you explore, you'll see the incredible decorative art collection, as well as all those acres of formal gardens, a native forest, mangrove shore AND even a historic village that will tell the story of Vizcaya's rich history!

There are guided tours available for purchase (online only) which last 45 minutes. These are a great way to explore the first floor and gardens in more detail.

You can also check out that historic village via the Vizcaya Village Tour if you wanted to go that extra mile, offering a general introduction and overview of the history of the buildings, plus staff like over a century ago!

Vizcaya Museum & Gardens FAQ’s

There is a cafe located on the north side of Main House, next to the swimming pool where you can enjoy light bites and drinks!

It's worth grabbing an Audio Tour ($5) or Guidebook ($3) if you really want to get the most out of your experience. There are also Guided Tours for $5, but free to members and children under 12 years.

The shop is near the cage, and offers gift items inspired by the architecture, gardens and collections - as well as souvenirs, books, postcards, jewelry, and so much more!

They absolutely welcome group tours and school groups. You can arrange a guided tour (depending on the tour you might not get to all the 34 rooms, so check), or they can help you

Vizcaya was built as a private home nearly a century ago. Because of its significance and integrity, Vizcaya is designated a National Historic Landmark—the highest honor bestowed on historic buildings in the United States. It is both our challenge and opportunity to determine how we can best preserve Vizcaya, while welcoming visitors with diverse interests and needs.

All visitors should be aware and cautious of the many steps and uneven floors and terrain throughout Vizcaya’s Main House, gardens and grounds.

In accordance with titles II and III of the ADA, Vizcaya welcomes service dogs only.

They have some great events to explore such Yoga and Art-Making Workshops, so check them out!
