Virginias natural heritage comes alive at the Virginia Living Museum, through a number of living exhibits that incorporate all of the state's geographic regions - from the oceans to the mountains and everything that's in between.

Each exhibit at the museum tells a story, from how geological changes formed the lanes, to the relationships between prey and predator, and survival adaptations of wildlife.

The indoor galleries at the Virginia Living Museum showcase the variety of plants and animals living in the Commonwealth, with Discovery Centers just brimming with natural history for kids to explore and touch.

You can watch a live view of the Chesapeake Bay Aquarium in the Coastal Plain's Gallery, as well as explore the world's richest nursery - Chesapeake Bay! From the forests to the marshes, to actual sea creatures, the most eastern-part of Virginia comes to life!

Moving to the mountains and you are "nose to nose" with a number of crawling, flying and swimming animals, complete with creatures who call the James River home.

The World of Darkness Gallery is where you can meet tiny sharks, scurrying ghost crabs and playful flying squirrels, and other animals that adapt to nocturnal life.

Let's not forget about Virginia's ancient past, that you can uncover by studying the fossils that were preserved right beneath your feet - and we haven't even begun to tell you about the outdoor adventures you can enjoy (and yes, there are dinosaurs!)
