About this activity

The world is an amazing place, and it's even more incredible when you learn the history of it - which is why a trip to the Vermont Institute of Natural Science is a great place for kids to visit! It's a place where they can explore exhibits on the natural history of the planet, and even experience live shows!

Some of the exhibits at the institute are temporary, which means there is always something new to see the next time you visit! Each of the exhibits cover fascinating topics, so they will always be learning something fun.

Sometimes they might be coming face to face with those huge Ice Age mammals - the woolly mammoths! They might magically re-appear after being extinct for 10,000 years!

Perhaps kids might be exploring the connection between birds and dinosaurs? They might be exploring life sized replicas of those prehistoric creatures, as well as getting up close to actual dinosaur skeletons!

There are always fun, hands-on activities that kids can get involved with - it's a great way for them to learn!

One of the most popular features at the Vermont Institute of Natural Sciences are the Live Raptor Shows! This unforgettable experience sees real birds of prey right before your eyes, when a trained instructor will teach you all about their role in the environment. You might just be amazed how much they are needed!

Let's not forget about the Discovery Sundays, where kids can imagine, create and discover until their heart's content! They can explore the world through engaging hands-on experiments which are great for their inquisitive minds!

We haven't even begun to tell you about the nature trails and feeding time for the resident creatures. There is almost TOO much fun and learning to be had!  A fascinating day out for the family in Vermont that will take you back tens of thousands of years!
