Took a tour up to the lodge in August to look around. Decided to check out the bakery and deli. Since we have some dietary restrictions we weren’t expecting much except maybe a drink. Well…that was not be the case. :)Ended up meeting the owner. Very kind and very up to speed with lots of dietary issues. The staff were very friendly and gracious as well. They made my son feel like king for the day! Made him the best sandwich he’s every had with fresh…yes I said fresh gluten free bread. Then for dessert the owner listened very intently and came back with freshly made apple dish which was to die for! Thank you for the great experience. I would love to have the opportunity to go back to Stowe and stay at the Trapp Family Lodge.

My wife and I had the pleasure of trying out this beautiful lodge two years ago. Food, atmosphere, activities and the love of the Sound of Music were all great! When we had gone, they had just opened up their micro brewery. Fantastic beers! Bakery upstairs was first class with fresh croissants reminiscent of Paris. The only reason I’ve rated this a 4 instead of a 5 is due to price. In my opinion, prices are too high for value received. Once you get over the “Sound of Musicness” of the place, you begin to compare it with similar places and realize that costs are on the high side.
