About this activity

We all know about The White House, but did you know that you can take TOURS of it? Yes - you can actually go inside this building that has seen iconic Presidents of the USA walk its halls, and change the world from that Oval Office!

A visit to the White House isn't your average family day out, so why would GETTING on the tour be any different? Keep reading, because this is where you realize you are in Washington DC, about to enter the most important building in the country!

In order to obtain the FREE tour, you need to submit a request through your Member of Congress (yes, you heard that right!)

Public tours are typically available from 8:00 AM to 12:30 PM Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, excluding Federal holidays  Tour hours will be extended if they can, but it just depends on the White House schedule.

Tours are based on a first come, first served basis, and you can submit your request up to three months in advance (but no less than 21 days)

A limited number of spaces are available, so submit as early as you can!

Now - all those families who are traveling to DC from outside the USA, you need to contact your embassy in DC for assistance in submitting your request.

So now you know how YOU can walk the halls where Nixon once did, or be in the same building where JFK made his decisions, then get those requests in - it's time to visit The White House!
