George Phippen was the first President of the Cowboy Artists of America, and sadly he died in 1966, however he left behind a group of artists interested in creating a facility that specifically represented artists in the American West.
Thus the Phippen Museum was born, celebrating the art & heritage of the incredibly fascinating American West, just as he wanted!
The permanent exhibits of the Phippen Museum are the core of the experience, with studio replicas, as well as a special collection room, and a one of a kind western heritage gallery.
Don't miss stopping at the Arizona Rancher & Cowboy Hall of Fame either!
All of the displays feature artifacts and memorabilia that bring the past back to life, and illustrate the talent of the artists, and the importance of time-worn items that were essential maintaining life in the West.
The permanent collection within the Phippen Museum feature paintings, drawings, etchings, photography and bronze sculptures that date from the late 19th century to the early 21st century. There are even some stunning American Indian artifacts and jewely too!
Everything in the collection was created by artists of the American West, so kids can really gain an insight into what life was like during this iconic period in US history.
The museum feature changing exhibits too, so you can pop back and see something new, along with your permanent favorites!
