About this activity

A visit to the fascinating Museum of Indian Arts and Culture is a visit to one of the four museums in the Museum of New Mexico system, and is a premier destination to learn about Native art, and material culture.

A visit to the Museum of Indian Arts & Culture is also an excellent introduction to the complexity and diversity of the Native American cultures of the region.

It's a place where you can hear the stories of the people in the Southwest from pre-history, right through to contemporary art, which is a wonderful educational opportunity for kids.

Listen to the stories and songs that tell of origins and the long history of the Native people of the Southwest, witness the development of new forms of art, or learn about the contemporary lives and lifeways of the Southwest's indigenous populations.

The exhibits within the museum change, so you can always go back and see something new. Exhibitions might cover spiritual beliefs, or particular traditions, or showcasing specific artists.

A day to the Museum of Indian Arts and Culture is an eye-opening and invaluable experience for children who can learn about Native American cultures in Southwest USA.
