About this activity

There is something magical about going into the great outdoors, and if you want a challenge, the Greenbrier River Trail might be just what you are looking for!

The Greenbrier River Trail is a whopping 78 miles long rail trail which is operated by West Virginia State Parks, and it gives the whole family a great excuse to get out for the day and explore the amazing nature (And have a great day of being active!)

The trail itself has a number of activities that you can enjoy on it. Grab those bicycles and enjoy a day of riding past all the sights, and maybe even spot some wildlife!

Grab those backpacks and enjoy a day of hiking, where you can take your time, stop and enjoy the sights and the flora that is all around you! If it's animals you love, why not spend the day on horseback - we're sure your horses would love the exercise too!

And don't think it's all about summer on the Greenbrier River Trail. In winter there is cross country skiing!

The great thing about the trail is that it has a packed, crusher run surface with only a 1% grade, so it gives you an easy ride or hike. And perfect for any age!

The trail also closely follows the Greenbrier River itself (hence the name - clever that!) so along the way you have PLENTY of places to stop, swim, and even fish! It also takes you through some of the most remote areas in the entire state, and is adjacent to three pretty amazing state parks and forests, so you be seeing some pretty incredible things!

A "wild and wonderful" day out for the whole active family in West Virginia!
