About this activity

There are so many cultures that make up the United States, and so many fascinating ones for kids to learn all about - so let's start with the Amish!

The Amish Village is a completely fascinating insight for kids to really learn about this incredibly unique culture. In the heart of Dutch Country, this village gives an authentic look at the Amish lifestyle that still exists today.

Over 12 acres, the whole family can tour an authentic Amish property! There's a one-room schoolhouse (kids - how does it compare to where you go to school now!?), a barn with sweet farm animals to meet, a smokehouse market and a blacksmith shop (something you don't see much of any more!) to name a few.

Kids will also get to chat to a real Amish school teacher in the school house, who will be on hand to answer any questions they have about life in an Amish school.

The guided tour of the farmhouse is 25 minutes (the farmhouse was built in 1840 so it's a very cool old building to look at!), then after that you get time to explore the grounds yourself.

If you're lucky you might even get to try some tasty whoopie pies and apple butter!

If you really enjoyed the farmhouse tour, you can join The Amish Village’s guided narrated farmland your on their passenger bus, which takes you through the working farms, off the beaten pass for 90 fascinating minutes! A great behind the scenes look at the history, beliefs, customs and traditions of this fascinating culture.

The Amish Village an incredible learning experience for kids, there are cute animals, and it’s FUN!
