If you LOVE a zoo experience (like we do here at Family Days Out), then you will want to keep reading, because Roer's Zoofari is SO much more than the zoo experiences you might be used to!
Roer's Zoofari is a small and charming zoo in Vienna, Virginia, that offers a number of opportunities for those little ones to have close encounters and interactions with the animals.
When you jump on board the open air safari bus, you can learn about - and FEED - a variety of animals that just come and go as they please in the free roaming safari.
Yes - a safari, so no enclosures or "cages" - you can just imagine yourselves on the vast plains of Africa, watching the animals in their element.
The narrated tour will take you around the property, where you might just have a visitor or two at your window to say hi (or likely with a rumbling tummy!)
You'll pass by favorites such as the zebra, the American Bison, or the adorable bobcat. Have you ever wondered what a capybara was? Well, you can find out on safari!
Watch out for your fingers as the eager llamas some right up to the bus keen for those carrot sticks (and don't forget to save the longer carrot sticks for the giraffes!), and if you're lucky you might see some of the more shy animals come to say hello, such as the white-tailed deer.
Also at Roer's Zoofari is a fun Feed & Pet Barnyard area, where kids can enjoy feeding and petting sheep, rabbits, goats, llamas, pigs, and so many more barnyard favorites!
Animal feed is available for purchase at the gift shop and at the admission counter.
Stop by the Parakeet Adventure Aviary too, where kids can feed these beautiful, gentle birds as they land on your feed stick! Great fun!
So get ready for a WILD family day out in Virginia, where you don't have to go to the animals - they go to YOU!
Roer’s Zoofari is located in Fairfax county, in northern Virginia. We are conveniently located near Washington, DC at 1228 Hunter Mill Road, Vienna, VA.
