Did you know that Reptile Gardens in Rapid City has been giving families fun and educational experiences since all the way back in 1937? That's a lot of fun that's been enjoyed over the years!
Today, the Reptile Gardens are one of the most popular attractions in Rapid City, because kids can get up close to some of the most amazing reptiles on Earth!
If you love snakes, you are in luck! The gardens hold some of the famous venomous snakes including the Cottonmouth and Copperhead. There are also non-venomous snakes at the gardens too.
What's also great about Reptile Gardens is they have a section showcasing creatures native to South Dakota! Did you know that so many were just at your front door? There are lizards, snakes, turtles, and amphibians too.
Make sure you spend some time in the Botanical Gardens too, which are a welcome break from all the fascinating creatures. There are two indoor area - the Safari Room and the Mezzanine.It's actually the Sky Dome that houses the world's largest collection of reptiles, and the mezzanine level is where you can see the world's deadliest snakes!
Then, the outdoor gardens feature beautiful experiences exploring koi ponds, meeting a giant tortoise who has been a resident since 1954, AND Darwin, the resident Kookaburra!
