About this activity

Did you know that Oleta River State Park is actually Florida's LARGEST urban park? Pretty special! The Oleta River can be found on Biscayne Bay, in the busy Miami metropolitan area. It's quite an oasis!

Oleta River State Park has a host of recreational activities for all ages, however it's best known for the miles of off-road bicycling trails. Whether you're a novice or ready for a challenge, there are trails for you.

But we did say there was a host of activities, and that there is!

At the north end of the park, along the Oleta River, you'll find a large stand of beautiful mangrove forest preserves native South Florida plants and wildlife.

The best way to explore more of this amazing natural area is to actually get out onto the river! Canoeists and kayakers can paddle the river to explore, or you can take a dip to cool down, swimming is popular from a 1,200-foot sandy beach.

All of the above is possible for all families, as you can rent canoes, kayaks and bikes too.

Want to take it easy? Just enjoy saltwater fishing, also another popular activity!  Got more energy again? Take to the trails and enjoy a hike!

For overnight visits, the park has rustic, air-conditioned cabins.
