About this activity

If you want a family day out with a difference, why not check out the Ohio Bird Sanctuary?

This 90 acre nature preserve is not only home to a host of Ohio's native birds, but also is a living museum. What's great about the bird sanctuary is that their primary mission is to actively aid sick and injured birds back to health.

What a great story for the kids to see!

There are over 60 permanent residents at in the living museum, including raptors, vultures and songbirds.  There are live bird displays, as well as the songbird aviary with a boardwalk for easy access

Their goal is to release the rehabilitated birds back into the wild, but it's not always possible. During your visit, the kids can learn all about these beautiful creatures, the story of each animal and learn the invaluable lesson of why it's important to care for our creatures and their habitats.

If you're feeling active, bring those walking shoes and enjoy the 4 miles of trails across the 90 acres that you can hike through. It provides an important habitat for their 52 species of breeding birds and migratory species, and it's great to get out into nature!

For the little ones, there is also the Children's Nature Scape Play area, as well as outside picnic areas.

On weekends they present programs such as Junior Naturalist, Creatures of the Night, Christmas for the Birds, Fall Family Festival, Mohican Wildlife Weekend, and more.

So why not assist the Ohio Bird Sanctuary with your admission, which helps support the rescue and aid of these amazing creatures!
