About this activity

The Ogden Nature Center is a 152-acre nature preserve and education center open year-round for discovery and exploration. Visitors enjoy meeting birds of prey, snakes, tortoises, salamanders and other native animal species. Outside you'll find picnic areas, tree houses, bird blinds, a spotting tower and 1.5 miles of walking trails. The Nature Center boasts two of Utah's greenest buildings, with hands-on nature exhibits and a unique gift store.

The Ogden Nature Center offers a wide variety of community programs for all ages including art, photography, birding, wildlife in Utah, outdoor recreation, conservation, sustainable practices and more. During the school year naturalists leads outdoor field trips for school children and in the summer, week-long nature camps. Several community events are held at the Nature Center each year including Earth Day and Creatures of the Night at Halloween.

Ogden Nature Center FAQ’s

The Ogden Nature Center takes great pride in its facilities, particularly those that are eco-friendly and model best practices for building. We boast the best in environmental education, with award-winning programs that are used as models nationwide.

Trail snacks and drinks can be purchased in the gift shop. We do not carry plastic bottles, but have soda & juice in aluminum cans or options to buy aluminum water bottles that can be filled with water at our drinking fountain.

Bring suncreen & bug spray in the summertime and good walking shoes year-round. You are welcome to pack in your own picnics, but we ask that you carry out your own trash. We are open year-round, and the winter is a great time to visit.

The Nest Gift Shop is full of nature-related items including toys, books, stationary, t-shirts and much more. The Nest is a wonderful place to shop for nature-lovers.

Our website has information for teachers interested in field trips to the Nature Center or our outreach programs, which bring nature education into your classrooms. Go the the education tab on our website
