About this activity

Since the Oak Mountain State Park was established back in 1927, with 940 acres to it's name, today it spans nearly 10,000 acres, making it the largest state park in Alabama! That's also means there is a TON of fun to be had in this beautiful part of the USA!

Oak Mountain State Park has a host of day-use activities that can be enjoyed by the whole family, really making it stand apart from the others.

For those active families, there are over 50 miles of hiking and biking trails, and these are even popular with those interested in horse riding too.

You can take a picnic and just relax under the shade of some trees, or take to the waters on the two fishing lakes. You can even rent a pedal boat or canoe for the day and really explore the lakes within the park.

On those sunny days, kids really will love the sandy beach swimming area, and there is an open playing field where they can cool off as they enjoy some sports.

If you have your own boat, there is a boat launch for personal boats as long as they don't have gas operated motors.

Think that is plenty of adventure? Oak Mountain State Park don't think so! You can enjoy 18 holes of golf with the entire family, or play with the animals at the petting farm. There is also rental horseback riding facilities.

Oak Mountain State Park has the largest area and variety of outdoor fun for the family, so you will be sure to find something for all!

Let's go and explore nature in the beautiful state of Alabama - don't forget those hats!
