Oak Alley Plantation is located in Louisiana, and is the epitome of the iconic Antebellum home! The mansion was built during the flourishing sugar industry as a chain of these stately homes lined the Mississippi River. Now, you have 25 acres to explore and learn from!

A visit to Oak Alley Plantation really is a beautiful day out for the family. There is so much to see an learn, with a fascinating Civil War history to dive right into, and even Civil War re-enactments to experience. There are even reconstructed slave quarters within a popular exhibit.

The great thing about this attraction, is that you can experience it at your own pace. However, if you want to enjoy a guided tour, they are offered on the hour, and on the half hour. You can visit incredible areas, such as the Confederate Commanding Officers Tent, and experience the plantation's original forge at the Blacksmith's Shop.

For those nature lovers there are 300 year old live oak trees which lead up that might Mississippi! Make sure you learn about the history of the family's who once called the Oak Alley Plantation home, because their tombstones and graves are located on the property. It's a lovely way to put names and faces to the stories in the walls.

Oak Alley Plantation FAQ’s

History is so important, and they are dedicated to preserving the memories of those who lived at the house, as well as the history surrounding it

There is tasty Cajun / Creole Cuisine in the restaurant, as well as snacks and ice cream in the cafe. Yum!

Allow at least 2 hours for the self-guided walking tours.

There is a gift shop where you can pick up some historic, fun and educational items to remember your visit by!

Students can learn all about this 1839 plantation with a field trip! They will enjoy a trained historical interpreter in period dress to set the scene!

The restaurant has healthy options for you

If you have special needs, just give them a call to see how they can help!

You can stay overnight in one of the cottage on the grounds if you wanted something to be the cherry on your visit!
