If you love spending time in nature, then you might just want to take a visit to the Norfolk Botanical Garden!
This little patch of nature in Norfolk is 155 acres of colorful gardens and plants, perfect for teaching kids all about the environment and our plants.
The Norfolk Botanical Garden has 5 year round gardens, including a beautiful Japanese Garden, as well as a sensory garden, which kids love because of the colors and smells. There are also Spring gardens, including a Colonial Herb Garden, and an Enchanted Forest where you can stroll through the woodland trails. You might feel you are in a storybook!
Fall gardens are perfect if you want to surrounded yourself with beautiful butterflies in the Butterfly Garden, and the oldest part of the garden is Mirror Lake, with a paved road that will lead you through azaleas and mountain laurels!
The, the Summer gardens include (most importantly for the kids!) the WOW Children's Garden, which is three acres just for families and kids! There are several areas, each with different interactive lessons.
On those warmer days in summer, the kids can enjoy the World Plaza too where they can splash their way around the world! There are fountains, foggers, bubblers and jet sprays all ready to cool them down!
The Norfolk Botanical Garden even has family programs including bike nights and guided kayak tours, so make sure you check the schedule so you don't miss out!

They offer a bistro style lunch at the cafe open Thurs - Sunday. They have a garden inspired menu!

The gift shop is closed in January, but the rest of the year you can pick up a range of items, including pottery, gardening books and unusual souvenirs!
They have a number of educational programs - all age appropriate - so you can select the best ones for your students.
The cafe has healthy options or you can bring your own lunch and enjoy a picnic!
The garden paths, trams, picnic areas, buildings and restrooms and are wheelchair accessible
The children's garden has different opening times to the ones listed. They open at 9:30am and close 30 minutes before regular closing time
