About this activity

It's always a great family day out to just sneak into nature...but what if you are in the middle of New Orleans?! Well, don't worry, because the COUNTRY'S oldest urban park is right on your doorstep!

Created way back in 1854, New Orleans City Park has been giving families a great time with 1,300 acres of outdoor oasis.

Millions of children visit each year to have a great time with the host of attraction that they can enjoy! First, there is the nature! There are walking tracks, plenty of lawn space to run around, and canopies to play hide and seek! If you want to be impressed with nature, then make sure you check out the world's largest stand of mature live oaks...some of them are nearly 800 years old! Incredible!

Families can stop and smell the roses in the beautiful Botanical Garden, and enjoy some art in the open-air Besthoff Sculpture Garden.

The Carousel Gardens Amusement Park is a great hit for the kids with rides, and one of the oldest carousels in the country! For some family fun (and maybe a little bit of friendly competition!) the City Putt is a fun 36 hole mini golf complex with two courses for you to enjoy. One highlights the culture of the state, and the other one showcased fun themes from New Orleans itself!

The course is ADA compliant, and is great for birthday parties too! A great way for kids to practice those coordination skills!

New Orleans City Park is so much more than a park. It's a place filled with fun things to do with kids, and the family, and a great way for kids to get active and enjoy that beautiful sun!
