If you just LOVE history and getting out into nature, then Mormon Station State Historic Park should be on your list!
Here's a fun fact. Did you know that Mormon Station is the site of Nevada's first permanent nonnative settlement? That's a pretty big deal!
Located in the quaint town of Genoa, Mormon Station is not just a park where you can enjoy the beautiful Nevada sun, tuck into a homemade picnic and watch for the wildlife. Nope!
It's here you can really immerse yourself into 19th century life. Featured at the park is a replica of the original trading post built in 1851. It came to life as a way to provide much needed supplies to weary travelers who were crossing the Sierra Nevada Mountains.
The original post burned down in 1910, but today the replica gives you a chance to experience it once more.
Also at the post is a small museum with relics of pioneer days. Kids can see these fascinating artifacts and really imagine what life would have been like at that time. Certainly a lot different to today, we're sure!
As well as the historic sites at the park, you can also enjoy popular events that are held across the year, including Candy Dance and the Cowboy Festival. Sounds brilliant!
So why not delve into life in the past, and enjoy a fun park day out at the same time. It makes for a fascinating day out!
