What is there to do?

Mill Mountain Zoo is all about giving families an amazing experience meeting and learning about animals from all over the world, and YOU can have a front row seat!

Mill Mountain Zoo is home to more than 175 animals across a range of species,  including mammals, birds, reptiles and invertebrates. In addition, 21 of these are vulnerable species, giving kids an invaluable lesson in conservation at the same time too!

Are you excited to hear about some of the animals you can meet at this Virginia favorite? Well, why don't we start with the mammals? Marvel at the beautiful features on the lynx, or check out the claws on the fishing cat.

The tiny porcupine is always a delight, or learn about how the red wolves communicate with each other. Then of course, make sure you dedicate some time to the vulnerable species such as the snow leopard.

Reptiles are always great fun for kids to see, from the Burmese pythons to variety of tortoises. Then, from the scales to the feathers, Mill Mountain Zoo is home to some beautifully colorful birds including the ibis and crane.

Throughout the year, the zoo hosts a number of fun events including Night Howls where you can hear the zoo come to life, breakfast with the animals to start your day in a WILD way, Zoo Boo over Halloween, and many more!

It's all about giving families and unforgettable time at this animal-tastic Virginia zoo. What are you waiting for kids? It's time to walk on YOUR wild side!
