Feed your spirit of discovery at the Las Cruces Museum of Nature and Science, where their three primary permanent exhibits uncover the wonders of the region for all who visit!
From the stars in the sky, to what's beneath the ground, to the expanse of the desert around you, the Las Cruces Museum of Nature and Science explores what makes this area of New Mexico so unique and special.
The Permian Trackways exhibit showcases two incredible fossil trackway from - you guessed it - the Permian Period. Kids can see a life-size cast of a dimetrodon, as well as two media programs on the trackways, AND touchable trace fossils!
Pretty amazing to think you can STILL see track marks from creatures that lived millions of years ago!
The second permanent exhibit is the Desert Life, where five habitats of the Chihuahuan Desert are explored - including the plains, the desert rivers and the grasslands. Kids, you'll be excited to know that there also nearly 30 LIVE animals in the exhibit, all who call the desert home, as well as taxidermied desert mammals and birds so you can see these amazing creatures up close
Time to explore space next with the Light & Sound interactive area. Here, a 4ft digital video globe features, along with a telescope, and a table where kids can experiment with light, and also see changing images from the Universe from NASA. Pretty amazing!
So why not explore the wonders and marvels of the Las Cruces region at the Las Cruces Museum of Nature and Science - there is so much more history than you might have ever realized!
