It's the great outdoors in Delaware and the stunning Killens Pond State Park - the perfect destination for the family on the next family day out!

If you love nature, and adventure, and getting active, you will love this state park in the heart of Kent County.

The centrepiece is a 66 acre millpond where you can spend the day boating, and fishing, and just enjoying the scenery! Bass, catfish, perch, carp and bluegills all call the pond home. Over summer, rowboats, kayaks, canoes and pedal boats can all be rented.

The park is only about 90 minutes drive from either the northern or southern state line, so easily accessible from other states - so no excuses! The park even features the Killens Pond Water Park which is so much more than a pool - it's an experience! With gentle sloping, it's easy to get in and out, and there is a tot pool for those little ones too.

First established way back in the late 1700s, the hardwood forest was once home to a number of Native American homes and hunting camps. Today, families spend the day walking through the woodlands, hiking or cross-country running, exploring the native plants and animals.

It's certainly the GREAT outdoors in Delaware -so grab those hats and camera, and that sense of adventure, and let's GO!

Killens Pond State Park FAQ’s

Fork Branch Nature Preserve is an area of the park that is dedicated to preserving local scenery and wildlife such as barred owls, Pileated Woodpeckers and many other wild birds

Picnic tables and grills are located under shade trees throughout the park, and the large grassy lawns overlooking the bay invite visitors to spread out a picnic blanket - so bring your own food!

Careful hikers may spot a deer, raccoon, possum, muskrat, or fox!

Boats, Cabins, Showers, Bath houses, Rest rooms, exercise areas and much more!

Take plenty of bottled water and healthy snacks for the kids energy
