Want to put a little JOY into your family day out? Well, if that family day out happens to be in Lubbock, Texas, you might want to head to Joyland Amusement Park! With over 30 rides and attractions geared for kids of all ages, there really will be something for everyone!
The great thing about Joyland Amusement Park is there are family rides which everyone can get involved in. The classic carousel is always a favorite, originally built in the early 1900s, where you can ride on your favorite pony.
The Bumper Cars are a great way for the family to enjoy a little friendly competition (nothing wrong with that!) and the Skyride is a beautiful and relaxing family friendly gondola rides with great panoramic views of the park.
Wanting something a bit more...THRILLING! Then of course, head on over to those thrill rides (not for the faint of heart!) Ever imagined yourself dropping from 140 feet at almost 50mph? Well, if you did, then the Dare Devil Drop is for you!
The Galaxi Coaster has thrills at every turn, and with a live DJ and high energy music, the Musik Express will have you holding on tight against that centrifugal force! (Kids - if you don't know what that means, ask your science teacher!)
There are of course, rides for those smaller dare devils who aren't tall enough for the big kid rides. Sweet kiddie rides - from the Big Trucks where kids can move around their "cargo", to the boats where kids can captain their own ship, are great options.
Did you know Joyland Amusement Park also has water attractions? A great way to cool down on those Texas summer days! It’s JOYFUL!
Located in the lovely and historic Yellow House Canyon, Joyland can be found in the heart of Mackenzie Park. Their address is 500 Canyon Lake Drive for those GPS systems.
From the north or south, take exit 4 off I-27, and head north on 4th street. Take the first right into Mackenzie Park. Then take a right fork around to Joyland.

The park wants to make sure that safety is of upmost importance, so make sure you take note of the height requirements of the rides, as this is in place to keep all the kiddies safe!
You can't bring your own food or drink into the park, but you can feast down on what they have to offer, from funnel cakes, nachos, burgers, hot dogs and pizzas.
They are happy to have birthday parties at the park if you want to celebrate your big day with heaps of fun!
Of course it's a great place to take students! Great for those science students, and great for those end of year celebrations!
Kids sized meals are available, and they also sell chicken sandwiches and water. Important to stay hydrated!
If you have mobility restrictions, just give them a call before you visit and check the accessibility. They will be sure to look after you!
Make sure you keep your receipt and grab an armband so you can leave the park and return on the same day - through the admission gate.
