Do you know who John Brown is kids? Well, a visit to the John Brown Wax Museum will fix that! The John Brown Wax Museum graphically tells the story of John Brown and the raid on Harpers Ferry. To make the experience more entertaining, the displays use voice, music, and even animation to enhance the experience!
You see kids, John Brown was a militant abolitionist who needed arms to carry out his plans to arm and free the slaves. He certainly was a good man! He planned for weeks and weeks at a farm in Maryland, and in 1859, he and 20 men went fully armed across the Potomac River into what is now West Virginia, at Harpers Ferry.
They overpowered the watchmen at a number of locations, and placed their own guards there instead. Brown established himself at the armory gate, and sent 6 men to seize the principal characters in the area and incite those of African decent to rise and join the insurrection.
What happened next? Well, you need to visit the John Brown Wax Museum to find out!
It's a great way for kids to learn about history, and the wax figures are so lifelike, it's like you are really there as history is happening all around you!
