Love history? Great! Because Hontoon Island State Park is rich with history. Did you know that evidence of Native American habitation over thousands of years can be seen as you hike through the park? Yep! It's history right under your feet!

A great way to explore the history when you first arrive is at the impressive visitor center. Here kids can learn more about the many inhabitants and uses of Hontoon Island over the years. It's fascinating!

Of course, there are also a host of activities that you can enjoy out under that glorious Florida sun. Why not get out onto the water via the 42 accessible boat slips. If it's fishing that you love, there are plenty of species that you can try your luck with, including Perch, Crappie and Catfish.

Picnic areas include tables, grills, and a playground, so why not take your own tasty lunch and enjoy it surrounded by peaceful nature.

For overnight stays, the park has rustic cabins, as well as 12 tent sites in a primitive environment.
