The dense forests of Holly River State Park is not only where you can have a really peaceful day out in nature, but you can also explore the second largest park in the entire state of West Virginia!

Located near the center of the state in Webster County, the park is is far from the hustle and bustle of city life, so you can really escape with the family and enjoy what Mother Nature has to offer!

Holly River State Park is a huge 8,101 acres in size, so just imagine the fun you can get up to there! Nestled in a narrow valley, the park is surrounded by heavily forested mountains some reaching heights of over 2,800 feet. Pretty impressive, huh!

In the midst of this woodland paradise, families will find a host of fun outdoor activities, so if you have active kids, you're in luck! Why not spend the day enjoying some tennis, or just surround yourself with nature on one of the many hiking trails. Perhaps you just want to soak up the sun by the swimming pool - perfect for those warmer summer days!

Kids might like to be challenged with the geocaching, or why not enjoy those animal experiences as you horseback through the park. Don't forget about the fishing too!

If you want to extend your stay, from Memorial Day to Labor Day you can enjoy some camping at the campgrounds, or in the cabins that they have. Make a trip of it!

Holly River State Park FAQ’s

You are able to choose from the many fun activities they have on offer, such as biking, hiking, fishing, swimming and much more.

Take your own lunch and enjoy a picnic in one of the many spots under the trees! If you have a group they also have spots to reserve

Holly River State Park’s campground has 88 units with electric hookups, picnic tables and cooking grills. A dumping station and four centralized bathhouses with coin-operated washers and dryers are available. Only one tent or trailer is allowed per site and check-in time is noon. West Virginia State Park campground reservations are available from Memorial Day through Labor Day each year. Campgrounds are open on a first-come, first-serve basis through October 31.

To make your visit to one of their cabins or camp sites as comfortable as possible they have showers, bath houses, restrooms, fire pits and picnic tables.

Take plenty of bottled water!

Make sure you take sun protection, especially if going in the pool or on hikes!
