Utah's Hogle Zoo is a Utah treasure, and is an animal-tastic option for those family days out in this beautiful state! Located at the mouth of Emigration Canyon since 1931, the Zoo is one of the top visited attractions in the state of Utah and the number one paid tourist attraction in Salt Lake City. Pretty impressive!

The zoo is spread out over 42 acres, across natural hillside terrain and meandering tree-covered pathways which allow families to  discover the wonders of the natural world as well as the animals that reside in it. 

Hogle Zoo is home to hundreds of animals that represent hundreds of different species. The splendor of the splendor of the animal kingdom is yours to behold!

Head to Africa where giraffes and ostriches will delight, as the lions roam happily nearby. Even more fun, the new Zoofari Express train takes you right through the middle of it all!

The Rocky Shores exhibit features sea lions, polar bears, river otters, grizzlies and even bald eagles, showcasing the amazing creatures that live in a particular habitat.

The Asian Highlands exhibit is a re-creation of a Himalayan village that features five endangered cat species, which is a great learning experience for kids as they understand the importance of conservation. 

Make sure you make a stop at the Elephant Encounter too! Here, the Serengeti meets Salt Lake City with not only elephants but white rhinos too. 

Fancy something more than animals? Make a stop at the Conservation Carousel that that kids of all ages for a whimsical spin on some of world’s most endangered and threatened animals.

With one of a kind animal experiences too,  you will see why Hogle Zoo is recognized as one of the top zoos in the world! It's a WILD family day out in Utah, so what are you waiting for?

Hogle Zoo FAQ’s

With a bistro featuring pizza, sandwiches and burgers, two cafes and a grill, there is no shortage of food!

The Zoo’s souvenir cup offers guests an opportunity to go green with a re-useable, refillable cup.

Best take that pocket money because there are a number of boutiques and shops where you can pick up some great gifts and merchandise! The Karibu Quick Shop also has all those necessities you might have forgotten on your trip to the zoo.

They offer great field trips, as well as Zoo Discovery Summer programs, curriculum materials before, during and after your visit, or the zoo can come to you!

You can bring your own outside food and drink (no glass or alcohol) and enjoy it on the numerous grassy areas!

The zoo is accessible and there are wheelchairs available in limited availability

Zoo Lights is held across December, and has separate admission fees and additional opening hours so be sure to check these before you go!
