About this activity

The Historic Ships in Baltimore represent one of the most impressive collections of military vessels in the WORLD, and YOU can visit during your next family day out in Maryland's capital!

The ships are located walking distance from each other, so exploration of all that is on offer is super easy for families.

Here, you can explore the USS Constellation, the US Submarine Torsk, the US Coast Guard Cutter Taney AND the Lightship Chesapeake!

All of these experiences offer a fascinating insight into life at sea from the mid-19th century to the mid 1980s!

Also located within the collection is the impressive Seven Foot Knoll Lighthouse which once marked the entrance to Baltimore Harbor for 130 years!

The museum gallery is where the history of the USS Constellation is displayed via artifacts and personal items from the actual crew who once sailed on her. Once you're on board, uniformed crew members can answer any questions you have on the history, and what you discover on the four decks.

You can visit the gun deck, the and see where the crew slept and lived!

Experience what life on board a lightship was like, and by all accounts it wasn't amazing! The crew had long days and terrifying nights, and it took a very special person to fulfill duties on board!

The Seven Foot Knoll Lighthouse contains an extensive exhibit on the building of the light, as well as lighthouses in the region, among others.

Did you know that it's one of the oldest Chesapeake lighthouses still in existence - pretty amazing!

A fascinating day through history with these Historic Ship in Baltimore - all aboard, the history lesson is about to begin!
