About this activity

The Harwood Museum of Art of the University of New Mexico brings Taos art to the world, and world art to Taos - pretty catchy, and yet very true!

This New Mexico museum of art preserves, collects and exhibits historic and contemporary art and culture of the Taos region, and is a great place for older kids to come and be inspired by art, AND learn about history and culture too!

The collections within the Harwood Museum of Art cover a range of themes, topics and history, offering an insight into different cultures of the region, and the world.

Kids can see Hispanic Traditions, as well as Native American artworks. There are artworks from modern Taos artists, as well as inspiring contemporary art.

Art is not just paintings kids, because also at the Harwood Museum of Art, you can see photographs, drawings and prints!

Whilst the collections are permanent, the museum also feature changing exhibits that typically each focus on one artist or medium. There are always more than one exhibit on, and change frequently, so after a few months you can see a whole new selection of works!

A great way to keep going back to see your favorite collections, but ensuring there is something new to see too!

Keep an eye out for family days which offer special themed art projects for special occasions, and a great way for the youngest kids to get involved and be artistic!
