Did you know that sugar cane was one of the biggest industries on Kauai for over 150 years? (It has to come from somewhere!)
Grove Farm Homestead Museum is a fascinating and educational day out for the whole family as it will give you all an authentic experience of the sugar cane heritage on the island.
It was acquired in 1864 (that's a pretty long time ago!), and today is beautifully preserved so families just like you can experience the operation of a true sugar cane plantation.
Set in over 100 acres, you can explore the original plantation main house, as well as the guest cottage, the owners cottage, residences, the old office, and even the worker's housing camp.
Kids can even experience the ongoing active household and garden activities - from the banana patches, pastures, and cleaning schedules (Kids - take some pointers for when you get home!)
Three days of the week you can take tours around this amazing location of Grove Farm Heritage Museum, and really learn first hand what it would have been like to be involved in such a booming industry at the time.
Did you know that ones of the first sugar cane plantations in Hawaii was started in 1854? (here's a hint - it's Grove Farm!) The tour will be FULL of fun and interesting facts for you to take away, and it doesn't hurt that the location is one of the most beautiful in the state!
Don’t forget that Grove Farm Heritage Museum has some super fun events for you too, so keep an eye out! You might be able to have a fun reds up session in early 1800s and 1900s clothings, and taste amazing food. You might even get to experience a full old time train ride - just SOME of the fun events that go on!
Who said history can’t be fun!
