History is waiting for you at Fort Osage! This historic attraction in Missouri will take you back to a time when Missouri was actually part of the Old West - and kids can learn all about what it was like to live at that time as the men and women who secured the American frontier.
The original fort itself was built in 1808, and was actually constructed under the direction of William Clark. Does that name sound familiar? It should! That's because he was the co-leader in THAT famous expedition from Lewis & Clark.
Now the family can visit this reconstructed fort as it was in 1812. Spend the day learning all about what it would have been like to live at this time - both the civilians and in the military. History should be fun! That's why Fort Osage tells the stories through authentically dressed interpreters who can give the kids living history insights.
The Fort Osage Education Center is a great place to visit to really brush up on the history. There is a permanent exhibition area that is FILLED with amazing and interactive exhibits that cover geology from the area, the local fauna and flora of the early 19th century, as well as information on the Hopewell Indians, Osage Indians, and even the Missouri River.
The center also has a great space specially for classrooms for all those school group tours that visit - and have a great time we might add!
Are you ready to take a step back into living history at Fort Osage? It’s an experience the whole family can enjoy!
