Want to hear a really fun fact? Did you know that Fort Nisqually is the first European settlement on Puget Sound? It was also once a bustling trade center that expanded into a large-scale agricultural enterprise.

Sounds like there is a LOT of history to enjoy at Fort Nisqually!

The great thing that kids and families will love at Fort Nisqually, is that it's a living history museum. That means that kids will actually feel like they are back in the 19th century, as the staff and volunteers are dressed in period clothing. 

As you walk around, you can see them demonstrating the crafts, and even speaking in historic dialogue!

Kids will really love the interactive elements at Fort Nisqually, like trying their hand at 19th century games, and even discovering what life was like BEFORE electricity! Can you imagine!?

Make sure you spend time looking at the exhibits at Fort Nisqually, as there are temporary exhibits within the Great Room that showcase objects found in the permanent collection. These give you a fascinating insight into the daily lifes of the historical residents, and the workings of the Hudson Bay Company, of which the fort was part!

All of the exhibits are hands-on for visitors of all ages, so make sure you get stuck in!

Don't miss the fun events that the fort holds across the year! These range from candlelight tours, to bonfires and even a 19th century Christmas celebration!

Make sure you take your camera!

The Museum Store is where you want to head to pick up those unique gifts that reflect the history, including hard-to-find historical items, toys and children's books!

There's a surprisingly wide range of classes and courses available here, from learning wire inlay a jewellery box, survival skills and arts history. You can also host a time traveler into your classroom, and hear stories of the fur trade in the North West!

It's worth having bottled water and healthy snacks with you in your bag so you can keep energized throughout the day!

Majority of the experience is accessible, from parking, the store, restrooms, and sensory experiences

They offer adult tours, women's tours and senior tours too!
