The Estuarium is a great aquarium in the public area of the Dauphin Island Sea Lab, and it's a great way for kids to explore what is in the waters of Alabama!
The aquarium itself highlights the four key habitats that you can find along the coast of Alabama. Kids - do you know what these are? If not, all the more reason for you to get on out to the Estuarium!
The habitats that you can explore are Mobile Bay, the Barrier Islands, the Mobile Tensaw River Delta as well as the Northern Gulf of Mexico.
There are also fascinating experiences to enjoy right through this family look under the waters. The 10,000sq ft Exhibit Hall is filled with engaging interactive exhibits and displays that can teach kids all about the wildlife found under the water, as well as plants and biology!
If that isn't enough, kids can check out the 7,000 gallon sting ray touch pool, as well as the Living Marsh Boardwalk. In fact, the Estuarium has 31 aquariums that total over 30,000 gallons that feature over 100 species on display!
For kids that love boats, don't miss the Billy Goat Hole Gallery where you will find a replica of an old French sailing ship called The Discovery Ship. It's full of fun and interesting treasures that those small, inquisitive hands can explore. They will also love the Miss May May interactive galleon!
So, who's ready to explore underneath the waters of Alabama - without actually getting wet! We certainly are - so let's go see...under the sea!
